Ahmed, please forgive me for my ignorance here. But WHY is there no money in media on the LEFT? I understand about business/ corporations being against regulation which is a right position and would therefore have plenty of backers with money. I just don't understand why there's so little support on the left. The left is meat and potatoes quality of life issues. Where's the support?
Well you nailed it right there. The wealthy right wing billionaires have a vested interest in keeping the GOP in power to keep their taxes low, and of course there’s been an increasingly radicalized right wing ecosystem of monied interests that are bought into Trump’s project. They fund right wing media personalities as soon as they pick up steam.
Liberal billionaires are either distracted with bigger philanthropy projects, backpedaling on their support for media/leaning right (Bezos), or running for political office themselves (Steyer). Liberal creators have to largely fight to get a following before anyone takes any notice, and still, it’s mostly ad deals that fund them.
Bulk of money that independent pro democracy media get is from ad deals. But we need a subscription infrastructure comparable to the NYT to really keep it running at scale. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to implement that. Haven’t landed on an answer.
Steyer, frankly is an embarrassment of swollen self-importance. He's someone who could be doing, if he so chose, SO much good (frankly true of a Bloomberg as well, & probably a few others that it's hard to even think of, which perfectly proves your point. Let's keep in mind, now that I've mentioned Bloomberg, that this is the same guy -- as well meaning as he arguably may have been -- STILL managed to change the rules of the city to grant himself an illegal 3rd term) without muddying the chances of others striving for office. I think that Steyer needs to get in his head how clear it is to the American public, by now, that the idea of a “wealthy businessman” doing better than someone with real political experience, solid chops, has been proven wrong irrevocably.
I’m sorry to disappoint you but the left has died. They keep their money for themselves and will all disappear once the money flow stops. No one within the Democratic is the least bit interested in fighting anyone. They continue to line their pockets with AIPAC .

I feel our mid term elections will be compromised at one level or another. It is clear that the people don’t want Trump in charge . Well most anyway. I see Trump messing with the elections (like he did in 2020) but succeeding this time. He has overhauled the process with all his loyalist.
Tucson Az - close to where Nancy Guthrie lived. Beautiful weather . It got hot too early, over 100 in March and I've never seen it get this hot this early I've lived here for over 30 years.
