On Friday evening, I was invited back on MSNBC’s The 11th Hour to break down last week’s news with Stephanie Ruhle on The Nightcap. I was on a panel with MSNBC & CNBC Founder Tom Rogers, Betches Co-Founder & Chief Brand Officer Sami Sage, and Fast Company Publisher Stephanie Mehta.
We discussed the latest developments in the NY Trump trial, debated the college protests, and named our MVPs of the week. And, of course, we spoke about one of the most important topics in the country right now - Trump’s second term plans outlined in last week’s TIME Magazine cover article.
On the panel, I spoke about how the 100 right-wing organizations at Project 2025 are creating the intellectual and legal framework to turn Trump’s authoritarian ideas into concrete plans. "They're taking his ravings, and they're codifying it into calm, deliberate policy that can actually get achieved,” I told Stephanie.
As I’ve written extensively, they’re already screening ideologically and training thousands of loyalists. They’re also preparing executive orders so Trump can purge civil servants and then begin pursuing Trump’s unhinged, far-right agenda. Their ultimate aim is to institutionalize Trumpism. We have to keep ringing the alarm about this.
You can watch the Project 2025 part of the segment in the video embedded at the top of this article. You can also watch the clip of my MVP of the week on Twitter. I shouted out TIME Magazine reporter Eric Cortellessa for holding Trump accountable for his dangerous plans and also not mincing words in his characterization of those plans as an “imperial presidency.” My runner-up for MVP of the week was the hormone melatonin for consistently putting Donald to sleep in the courtroom.
You can watch the first block of the show, where we talk about the Trump trial and Project 2025, on the YouTube link below or on MSNBC.com.
Again, I have to thank all of you for boosting my work! Your support of my extensive coverage of the threat Trump poses to democracy is the reason I’m being invited to talk about this on such a big platform. If you haven’t seen my first MSNBC appearance from two weeks ago, you can watch it here.
