Cow-towing to corporate interests disguised as comeuppance for the middle class is an issue that is problematic. The "both-sides" that got the previous person elected is definitely the issue and I appreciate you pointing this out in perfect detail. The responsibility of truth telling has been turned upside down by corporate clicks and dollar signs. People seem to imbibe what is being fed to them on social media and false news platforms without taking the time to fact-check anything. It is past time for the mainstream media to reign in this blathering approach that allows a festering pistule of fascism to infiltrate our democracy.
Yup. The corporate aspect of this is definitely the key point to highlight. Like I say in the piece, there are a lot of journalists who are doing great work and personally oppose the authoritarianism they’re seeing, but they’re working within a business model that incentivizes the kind of coverage we’re seeing. Hopefully we find a way to make the business incentivizes align with the pro-democracy stance
All of this needed to be said, and now repeated. Again, and again, until big media gets it.
With our hyper-focus on profits, the click bait stories (like Boebert & her antics) get more traction than the real issues. I feel for the folks who have found their place among the networks and large media organizations, but they need to use the power of their own ethics and voices and get back to the responsibilities of the Fourth Estate.
We enjoy much of our freedom of expression in the United States for this purpose- not only allowing citizens to speak out, but by allowing the media to properly inform us and provide reasonable analysis of the important issues.
This was an excellent article! I learned a lot from it! Our media is failing us and we need to stop paying attention to all the nonsense that is the clown show and the circus master himself! We need to focus on getting Biden’s accomplishments out there since the media won’t do that. Thank you again for a great article
Despite what you hear, I would argue that the reason so many people don’t trust American media isn’t because they don’t hear what they want -- although there’s definitely a segment of society that fits that description -- but because they’re sick and tired of reporters being lazy scribes and pretending that the political equivalent of cancer is the same as the political equivalent of the flu.
Yup, I think a lot of the false equivalency is definitely why people who exist in objective reality have a growing distrust of media. Many journalists are doing awesome work of course, but the “both sides” tendencies we see in a lot of media is a major problem

I appreciate you putting this message out there. I hope truth wins, and coverage that is pro-democracy prevails! Thank you.
